How we got our name.

In the spring of 2022, We decided to spend my birthday camping on Cape Lookout. Surfing, teaching our dogs to hunt for conch shells, & admiring all the stars.

On our way home, my fiancé Erica wanted to explore the different communities tucked throughout Down East.

We started fantasizing about what it would be like to start a family & move to one of these smaller towns.

The next spring our daughter was born. When she was two months old, we decided to take a leap of faith, We packed up our apartment in Wilmington, and moved our family up the coast. We’re now getting ready to welcome our son into the world, in a home down the street from the Cape Lookout lighthouse, Our Diamond Lady…

Diamond Lady Dock Maintenance

How we started.

This company came about while working in Marine Construction. Seeing firsthand the amount of time, effort, and money, it takes to build a dock. I was also seeing how many docks were falling into disrepair due to a lack of basic maintenance.

We realize there are lots of people out there needing help keeping their docks in good working order. Often times builders aren’t able to take on small jobs, or tackle the lighter maintenance issues due to their busy schedules. We wanted to bridge that gap, and provide a service to help people get the most out of their investment.

A little bit of preventative maintenance goes a long way in adding to the lifespan of your dock. Like most other things in life, it’s easier to fix a problem when it’s small, before it becomes a large one. It’s usually more cost effective as well.

We are a small, family run business. We’re building a great team however, and we’d love to be a part of yours.

If there is ever a problem that’s above our heads, or we aren’t able to address, we’ll always let you know. We’re usually able to get the answers you need or help point you in the right direction.

Meet the Team

  • Erica is the one who makes it all happen. I’m writing this for her as she is currently 9 months pregnant, and taking care of our 14 month old daughter as she romps around the house.

She’s the one you want on your team. She put herself through college, cooking in kitchens and catering.

Erica graduated from UNCW with a degree in International affairs. She has managed a sales force at a solar energy company, run processing and distribution for a company selling fossilized sharks teeth, worked in craft services for the film industry, and is responsible for keeping our crew running.

Originally she told me her childhood aspirations were to be either a Mermaid, or a pirate, So I’d say we’re on the right track.

You may see her on your dock, delivering tools, snacks, and invoices.

  • Hi, I’m Ryan Nolan. Creator of Diamond Lady Dock maintenance & Living Shorelines. Here’s a bit about me.

I’m a pretty straight forward & easy going person. I love my family, God, surfing, making art, meeting new people & learning about their lives.

I want to be in, on, or around water, sleeping under the stars, petting my dogs, or grilling in the yard while they smile and drool.

I value honesty, kindness, hard work, beautiful landscapes, & helping to protect them.

I’ve studied photography and wooden boat building, received professional training in the design and creation of Living Shorelines from the Living Shorelines Academy. I’ve worked in the trades, art, and hospitality, over the course of my career.
